Local Food and Farmers Market Promotion Program Webinar

Wednesday, February 15, 2017 – 2:30pmThe U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the availability of $27 million in grants to strengthen market opportunities for local and regional food producers and businesses through the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program.AMS will host a webinar to help farmers (especially those interested in on-farm stores and agritourism), producers groups, market managers, local food processors and other potential applicants to understand the program requirements.

If you would like to pay by cash or check, please email Program Assistant, Sarah Petri, at grow@learngrowconnect.org to RSVP.Angelic Organics Learning Center will partner with USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) to present a 3-hour workshop for farmers interested in learning more about FSA loan programs and services.The Farm Service Agency offers farm loan assistance to farmers who have some experience and want to own or operate a farm, but who don’t yet meet the qualifications to get financing from a traditional lender. The benefits of working with FSA include favorable interest rates and terms for farm ownership and operating loans, access to non-traditional types of credit such as microloans, and assistance in completing loan applications.The workshop agenda includes a presentation in which Wisconsin and Illinois FSA staff will provide information on how FSA loans can help non-commodity farmers grow their operations. Presenters will outline the steps in the loan application process and will discuss the types of experience lenders look for in successful applicants. The workshop will also include a question-and-answer period with a panel of local farmers who have worked with FSA to grow their businesses.Space is limited. Register online here. Grants.gov Webinar

Grants.gov is the website where federal grant-making agencies go to post grant funding opportunities and where the public goes to find and apply for those opportunities. The goal of the presentation is to provide information on how to use the Grants.gov website to apply for AMS grant programs.

Topics covered in the presentation include the registration process in Duns & Bradstreet, tracking a submitted application, how to find (search)  for funding opportunities and how to apply for those opportunities.
