    The Wisconsin Cover Crops Conference will take place October 4, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    This year’s conference will be featuring Dr. Jamie Patton, Shawano County UW-Extension on “Cover Crops and Soil Health”.  On-farm demonstrations will include:  Cover Crops After Wheat, Inter-seeding Cover Crops in Corn, and Low Disturbance Manure Injection into Cover Crops. This conference is sponsored by Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, Sheboygan County UW–Extension , Washington and Ozaukee County Land Conservation Departments, Clean Farm Families, and Cedar Creek Farmers.

    Come discuss cover crop practices for fresh market produce, grain and dairy systems. See no-till drilling, irrigation, manure management, and other strategies to conserve soil and nutrients.

    Then enjoy brats, plus seafood caught by fishermen in the Gulf – whose challenges with nutrient build-up and biological die-off in the Gulf Dead Zone we seek to help through our conservation practices.

Nationally published food writer Kristine Hansen, who has written for Cooking Light, Wine Enthusiast, TIME, Vogue.com and Fodors.com, leads this day-long food-writing intensive. The Mindful Palate owner Annie Wegner LeFort’s delicious locally sourced cuisine will keep our writing minds fueled. Whether you want to launch a food-writing career, take it to the next level, or indulge in a creative-writing retreat, why don’t you join us?

    Included in the day:
    -four hour-long workshops

    -one-on-one meetings with Kristine (first 10 who sign up)
