MFAI at the Hunger & Health Summit

Late last month, Associate Policy Director Devon Hamilton spoke on a panel about “Youth Empowerment through Social Justice and Food” at the 2019 Hunger & Health Summit in the Wisconsin Dells. He was joined by Nathan Larson of  Community Groundworks and the Wisconsin School Garden Network. The two spoke about how we come to define and practice youth empowerment around food justice education, and shared their experiences in and out of the classroom. The remainder of the time was spent networking and brainstorming best practices, along with helping identify what assets, communities, and organizations already exist across Wisconsin who are committed or interested in this work. MFAI looks forward to furthering these conversations through GULFS and attending next year’s summit.
