SARE/ATTRA 30th Anniversary Conference Draws Huge Crowds

Nearly 1,000 people attended the Our Farms, Our Future Conference April 3-5, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of both USDA’s Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program and the ATTRA program of the National Center for Appropriate Technology. Topics from Soil Health to Beginning Farming and Ranching to food justice, to mainstreaming sustainable agriculture and conservation in the marketplace were engaged by a tremendous range of speakers. USDA’s Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, Steve Censky announced that USDA will release in the coming months a new $80 million grant program on sustainable agriculture!
MFAI’s Policy Director Margaret Krome joined Ferd Hoefner, Senior Strategic Advisor for the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, for well-attended and audience engaged break-out sessions on policy, on both the 3d and the 4th. Also, Krome, Hoefner, and NSAC Senior Policy Analyst Paul Wolfe were honored by SARE leadership for their decades of work in protecting and building funding for SARE.
