2012 Spring Corn Breeding Update
May 24, 2012
Michael Fields Agricultural Institute’s current corn breeding objectives remain in alignment with the historical work focused on improving grain nutritional quality of increased protein content, methionine and antioxidant carotenoid pigments targeting performance for organic crop production conditions.
Selection for inclusion in this year’s nursery (2012), was based on past performance for yield and protein content. Nursery planting went very well with fine-tuned equipment and excellent staff. The research team at Michael Fields Agricultural Insitute is looking forward to a productive 2012 season.
