2014 CSP Sign-ups Announced — Over 450 Contracts Enrolled
August 24, 2014
NRCS WI recently announced 2014 sign-ups for the Conservation Stewardship Program. 473 new contracts were enrolled bringing the total number of contracts in Wisconsin up to 2700. Almost 1 million total CSP acres were attained in this sign-up period — the total reached was 991,000 Wisconsin acres.
Margaret Krome, Policy Program Director for the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, comments: “The Conservation Stewardship Program was created to reward conservation-minded farmers who were already implementing responsible farming techniques in their operations. The consistently strong CSP sign-up response from Wisconsin farmers shows that the conservation ethic that started in this great state stays true to its roots in the present day.”
