2017 Annual Report

Dear Friends,

Michael Fields was founded over 34 years ago by a small group of concerned individuals who believed in the importance of soil health and growing crops utilizing organic and biodynamic methods. Since that initial start the organization has continued to grow with an continuing influx of new faces and ideas that continue to address today’s pressing societal and environmental issues.

In 1984, Christopher Mann, Martina Mann and Ruth Zinniker started MFAI down the path of good stewardship toward the land and exploring practices that do not damage the environment and give back healthy food. Their vision and sustainable values live on in our Research, Education and Policy work at the state and federal levels.

Today we know soil health is the key. Problems of soil erosion, chemical build-up, ground water pollution and loss of biodiversity pose major threats to human health and safety. Working together, with farmers, consumers and supporters like you, we are helping to bring greater attention to soil erosion, water quality, better conservation practices, climate change and their effects on a healthy food production system.

Thank you for your commitment and support, we cannot do this work without you. I am pleased to share our Annual Report for 2017. If you have any questions or ideas, please feel to drop by my office or give me a call. We count on your support and contributions.

Sincerely yours,

Perry L Brown
Executive Director
