Celebrating Social and Ecological Justice Work in Wisconsin

Recently, our Assistant Policy Director of Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, Devon Hamilton, was invited to present at the Tri-State Local Food Summit at the Sinsinawa Mound Center in South West Wisconsin. The summit was a day devoted to celebrating the social and ecological justice work done around the state and discovering the many ways food intersects with that work. Hamilton was one of three speakers and presented on youth education in the food system, specifically his story on how he got involved in his work and describing MFAI’s GULFS program and curriculum to the group. A lively discussion was held following all of the presentations. Hamilton was able to participate in a Q&A session where they discussed the many other intersections in food justice work, from race and cultural relevance in the food system, to how to use food and other tools to bridge communities.
