Comment on the Conservation Stewardship Program Today! Deadline is Jan. 20th, 2015

If you care about sustainable agriculture and conservation, please take the time to provide input during the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s public comment period on the Conservation Stewardship Program.

Some of the biggest issues with the rules for sustainable agriculture proponents are:

1.) The program should base the program’s ranking and payment rules for the program solely on environmental benefits and outcomes, regardless of whether they are generated from new or ongoing conservation work.

2.) The program should improve access to the program for beginning & small-acreage farmers, including farmers growing fruits and vegetables and other high value crops.

3.) The program should ensure fiscal responsibility by closing payment limit loopholes and strengthening the stewardship threshold.
