Corn Breeding Update
February 9, 2016
We have had promising results in our gametophytic incompatibility breeding goals, that is breeding corn with the ability to reject pollen that is not its own, this includes GMO pollen. Both of these ears of corn were pollinated with a mixture of their own pollen and a larger amount of blue corn pollen. The ear on the left shows that it has let in little foreign pollen — a success with slightly more refining to do! The ear on the right let in lots of blue corn pollen, this lets us know that we have more work to do with this strain. Stay tuned for more updates.
