Erin Shaw (public policy intern)

ErinOver the past few years, my interest and passion in supporting the local organic food infrastructure has grown immensely.  This passion has fueled the recent completion of my master’s degree in Environmental Studies where particular attention was given to the collaborative efforts that can be forged between rural and urban communities around local food.  The last several years of my professional and volunteer work has been through grassroots organizations, but my recent coursework at York University has underlined the significant role that public policy holds in determining the infrastructural and developmental needs of Wisconsin’s local and organic food sector.  I strongly believe in the creation of a fair, just, and multi-scalar food system, and having this internship allows me to strengthen my advocacy and career aspirations by equipping me with the tools to understand and improve the agricultural system in which we operate.”
