May 21, 2015
The notice of funding availability, application template and the application checklist for the USDA Small Socially Disadvantaged Groups (SSDG, formally known as the small socially disadvantaged producer grant, SSDPG) are available at http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/BCP_SDGG.html. For 2015, $3 million is available from the USDA, with a maximum grant size of $175,000 and a grant term of one year. Hard copy applications are due 7/20/15, whereas applications via grants.gov are due earlier, 7/14/15.
The primary objective of the SDGG program is to provide technical assistance to socially-disadvantaged groups. (These are groups that have been subjected to racial, ethnic, or gender prejudice.) Grants are available only for cooperative development centers, individual cooperatives, or groups of cooperatives that serve socially-disadvantaged groups and where a majority of the boards of directors or governing board is comprised of individuals who are
members of socially-disadvantaged groups.
Please review the Notice of Funding Availability closely as there have been changes to the scoring of this grant program.
