Dane County Beekeepers Association

Jeanne Hansen has been keeping bees in her back yard in Madison for 5 years. She has read over 16 books on beekeeping, and found that she is a fast study! She has been teaching classes for 3 years. Jeanne was a founding member of the Dane Co. Beekeeping Association, and the first president. She currently has 10 hives in 3 locations. Besides providing honey for her family and friends, she uses the wax to dip beeswax candles. Before, Jeanne took up beekeeping, she was a chemist for her entire professional career. She enjoys building her own bee hives, sewing veils and protective suits, and reading as much as possible.
