Workshop Curriculum Coordinator at Michael Fields Agricultural Institute
Beginning in 2008, Jodie honored her flower farming passion by launching Piper Road Gardens through assistance from the Michael Fields Agriculture Institute’s business incubator program. Her focus was to provide fresh cut, sustainably grown organic flowers to people of southeast Wisconsin through wholesale, farmer’s markets, CSA outlets and providing sustainable cut flower options for couples for their weddings or other special events. Although, Jodie has postponed full-time flower farming, she patiently awaits the return after the purchase of the right piece of property. Currently, her work at Michael Fields as the Whole Farm Workshop Curriculum Coordinator, serves to keep her passionately involved in the sustainable agriculture movement. Jodie has worked on small organic flower farms and greenhouses in Indiana and Kansas and grew up helping on her family’s Christmas tree farm.
Jodie received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting, as well as a secondary degree in Environmental Science & Natural Resource Management, at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Jodie also enjoys the challenges and pleasures of raising her two sons, with her husband.
