Education Director/Research Agronomist
Leah grew-up in St. Louis, Missouri to several generations of vegetable gardeners and completed an under-graduate in international agriculture at Truman State University, a master’s degree from University of Missouri in crop management and a PhD from Purdue University in Botany. Beginning in college, she began an all out pursuit to gain as much agricultural knowledge and experience as possible, with the hope of working with farmers and farming herself one day. Her prior work experiences include the Greenely Research Farm, a 1000 acre research farm in Northeast Missouri, Poggiolorosso Farm in Emilgia-Romagna, Italy, and most recently, before undertaking her doctoral degree, a position with AgriCorps in Eastern Region Ghana working in agricultural development for a year. In addition, she co-founded the Hoosier Young Farmer Coalition with several small-scale farmers to establish a statewide organization that supports and advocates for young and beginning farmers throughout Indiana.
