Legal Guidance for CSAs – Free Webinar

Wisconsin is proud of its CSAs, and the CSA model is a great way for members to take on some of the risks and rewards of farming.  But that doesn’t make it risk-free for farmers, and another way CSA farmers can manage their risk is to consider the legal aspects.  Farm Commons has a free webinar on December 10th on just this topic.

The webinar is titled Building the Base of Your CSA:  Legal Best Practices, Including Member, Volunteer, and Intern Agreements, and will be held on Monday, December 10th, 2012 at 6pm.  Go to Farm Commons for more information or to register.

The webinar is for farmers who have a CSA program or are planning to start one, educators, and advocates, and will provide guidance on how legal documents can help farmers achieve their CSA goals.  Participants will learn about the legal aspects of running a CSA and gain strategies for crafting a CSA member agreement to improve customer satisfaction and retention.  This webinar will also discuss how to create meaningful volunteer opportunities with worker share or volunteer agreements, while also identifying potential legal risks.  The webinar will also discuss setting up a CSA business, hiring interns and apprentices, and overall risk management strategies to build a CSA that can thrive.
