MFAI Releases Report Analyzing Conservation Stewardship Program in Wisconsin
April 19, 2016
In March 2016, MFAI, in collaboration with GrassWorks, Inc. and the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, and with significant assistance from NRCS Wisconsin, released a report which analyzed the Conservation Stewardship Program in Wisconsin. The report provides a broad overview on the history of the program, how it functions in WI, and how effective it is at accomplishing its mission to reward the best conservation stewards of agricultural lands and provide adequate incentives to motivate additional farmers to enroll in the program and implement conservation practices on their land. It also specifically delves into how effective the program is at serving graziers, under-served and Socially Disadvantaged producers, and producers who want to implement pollinator habitat on their operations.
