Organic Apple Growing Class

03-16-2018 9:00 am - 03-16-2018 3:30 pm

“This terrific workshop gave me confidence in my fruit tree pruning and showed me I could graft apple trees – and now I can’t stop!” – Former workshop participant

“So many of us school gardeners need this workshop to learn how to provide nutrients and manage pests organically in our school fruit trees.” – Wisconsin School Gardener

The morning will focus on organic pest management. After lunch, we will go outside for a hands-on pruning lesson, followed by an indoor apple grafting workshop. Every participant will go home with at least one and probably two apple trees that they have just grafted, for planting this spring.

This workshop is designed for individuals and school gardeners and community gardeners who manage trees non-commercially.

Instructor Deirdre Birmingham of The Cider Farm in Mineral Point, WI helped establish the Midwest Organic Fruit Growing Network and has years of experience as an orchardist.
