Now’s the time! Save WI’s local food program!
April 25, 2013
“Undeniably, this program has made a difference. That little bit of grant money we received several years ago has now resulted in a program that generates over $3 million each year in sales to local farms!” – Miriam Grunes, REAP Food Group
Governor Walker eliminated the state’s local food program – the Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grants program – from the state budget. But the legislature can restore it.
These grants have:
- created and retained over 100 jobs
- brought in more than $4 million in new sales
- created a 6:1 return on investment
Thanks to local food supporters across Wisconsin, the Legislature heard during the budget hearings that local food matters. Now let’s show them just how much it matters.
Please call or email your State Senator and State Representative and ask them to restore funding for the Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grants program at $200,000 per year.
You can find out who represents you and their contact information here.
And thank you! Together we can save this job-creating program!
