Perry Brown

Executive Director

Perry Brown joined Michael Fields Agricultural Institute in January 2017 as the Executive Director. Perry grew-up on a grain and livestock farm in East Central Illinois and completed under-graduate and graduate course work in agricultural education and economics from Western Illinois University. His prior work experience includes 17 years at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection (DATCP) in their Division of Agricultural Development and various Administrative positions. While at DATCP, he served as the primary contact for the Department on state-wide organic issues, organic export challenges, managed intensive grazing and specialty crops. In addition, he worked with many of the state’s commodity groups and helped address marketing/market access issues for small to medium-size companies. Earlier in his career he worked in the private sector as the Director of Business Development for a small Midwest international marketing company and as Bureau Director with the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of International Marketing, Prior to pursuing his interests in international marketing, he worked eight years as a high school vocational agriculture instructor.
