MFAI Releases Report Analyzing Conservation Stewardship Program in Wisconsin
In March 2016, MFAI, in collaboration with GrassWorks, Inc. and the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, and with significant assistance from NRCS Wisconsin, released a report which analyzed the Conservation Stewardship Program in Wisconsin.
2015 Wisconsin Cover Crops Conference a Success!
East Troy, WI – On Friday, August 14, 2015, the Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, in collaboration with the Natural Resources Conservation Service of WI, UW-Extension, and Organic Valley hosted the 2015 WI Cover Crops Conference.
Conservation Stewardship Program Serves Farmers of All Types and All Sizes
The Natural Resources Conservation Service is currently accepting, ranking, and funding applications for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) until February 27th. Interested farmers can apply year round, but to be considered for funding, applications should be turned in by the February deadline. The 2014 Farm Bill has authorized more than 7.5 million acres to be enrolled in the program this year – almost as much land as the states of Vermont and Delaware combined.
2014 Wisconsin Cover Crops Conference a Huge Success!
The WI Cover Crops Conference, hosted by Michael Fields Ag Institute, NRCS WI, UW-Extension and sponsored by North Central SARE, was a huge success. With over 100 attendees, this conference advanced the spread of knowledge on cover crops in Wisconsin and educated farmers, agency, and non-profit staff on the economic and soil health benefits of cover crops.
