The Wisconsin Cover Crops Conference will take place October 4, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This year’s conference will be featuring Dr. Jamie Patton, Shawano County UW-Extension on “Cover Crops and Soil Health”. On-farm demonstrations will include: Cover Crops After Wheat, Inter-seeding Cover Crops in Corn, and Low Disturbance Manure Injection into Cover Crops. Join Iowa County’s Uplands Farmer-Led Watershed Group for a farm tour followed by brats and seafood

Farm tour followed by lunch at Uplands Cheese Farm
Come discuss cover crop practices for fresh market produce, grain and dairy systems. See no-till drilling, irrigation, manure management, and other strategies to conserve soil and nutrients.
Then enjoy brats, plus seafood caught by fishermen in the Gulf – whose challenges with nutrient build-up and biological die-off in the Gulf Dead Zone we seek to help through our conservation practices.

The Mindful Palate owner Annie Wegner LeFort’s delicious locally sourced cuisine will keep our writing minds fueled. Whether you want to launch a food-writing career, take it to the next level, or indulge in a creative-writing retreat, why don’t you join us?
